「The Bridge of X」Akira Okawada

The Bridge of X
by Akira Okawada

While wandering around, I found a bridge that I had heard rumors about. The bridge, aptly called the “bridge without crossing”, seems to have been washed away when it rains heavily.
There was no sign of anyone walking on the bridge. From a distance, it looked wooden, but when I checked it, I found it was made of reinforced steel. No, it glowed strangely from some angles and looked like some unknown metal isn’t it?
It was squishy when I jumped on it and swayed like a suspension bridge. I walked from one end to the other and suddenly became unconscious and realized that hours had passed. I checked its history in the library, but strangely, there was no record of it anywhere, not even a name attached to it.
    Then, a typhoon came.
There was an evacuation warning, but I ignored it and went outside. I saw the bridge. The river’s water, which had increased in volume, swallowed the bridge. The next moment, it was restored as if nothing had happened.
Well, I knew everything. This was another dimension, and the bridge was supposed to serve as a boundary link. And now that it has a catalyst, the bridge is briefly stable.
I was chosen to be a sacrifice, in other words, a human pillar.
